A330-200 · v1.0.0

FAQ and known limits

What to expect, what to work around, and where to ask when something looks wrong.

Getting started

Install and platforms

Is it really free?

Yes. The A330-200 is freeware for X-Plane 12. You may not sell it or upload the package to other sites. Link to our download page instead.

What do I need besides X-Plane 12?

Only the default Airbus A330-300 that comes with X-Plane 12. The package installs over a copy of it. No other add-on is required.

Does it work on macOS and Linux?

The aircraft does. The plugin is Windows only in this version, so on macOS and Linux you fly with the Trent 700 and without SimBrief in the MCDU.

How do updates work?

Each update is a complete new package that you install on a fresh copy of the default A330-300. There is no automatic updater. The release notes show the current version. The install guide lists what to keep from your old folder.

My aircraft disappeared or broke after an X-Plane update.

It was installed over the original A330-300 folder, which the X-Plane updater restores. Install again over a copy, as in the install guide.

Can I use liveries made for the A330-300?

No. The −200 has its own fuselage texture layout. Use the paint kit to make or adapt a livery.

Is the tablet (AviTab) included?

No. It is not part of this version.

Engines

GE and PW engines

Why are the GE and PW engines not in the package?

They are free mods by Carda and stay on Carda's download pages. Our package ships with the Rolls-Royce Trent 700. The install guide shows how to add the other two.

X-Plane shows a warning when the aircraft loads. Is something broken?

No. Without the GE Engines and PW Engines folders, X-Plane warns once per load that objects are missing and the aircraft stays on the Trent 700.

What is the "CARDA MOD MISSING" box?

You loaded a livery marked GE or PW without Carda's engine folders installed. Add the folders or pick an RR livery.

Why do I see two engines on top of each other on macOS or Linux?

Remove the GE Engines and PW Engines folders from the aircraft's objects folder. They need the Windows plugin.

MCDU

SimBrief and the FMS

The FMS rejects my zero-fuel weight with "ENTRY OUT OF RANGE".

The X-Plane FMS does not accept a ZFW below 129.0 t. This is fixed in the simulator. For a lighter flight, enter 129.0 on INIT B.

INIT REQUEST loaded the route without a SID or STAR.

That is intended. Choose the departure and arrival procedures in the FMS as usual.

After INIT REQUEST the scratchpad shows "CRUISE FL ABOVE MAX FL".

It is an advisory based on the aircraft's weight at that moment. The cruise level was entered.

INIT REQUEST shows NO PILOT ID, NO OFP or NET ERROR.

NO PILOT ID: no Pilot ID saved yet (AOC MENU, RSK5). NO OFP: SimBrief has no flight plan for that ID, so generate one first. NET ERROR: the network or SimBrief did not answer, so try again. The message clears by itself after a few seconds.

INIT REQUEST loaded the route but not the flight number and cruise level.

The scratchpad was not empty. Clear it and enter the two values by hand, or request again.

LOADSHEET shows the weights but does not load them.

It takes two presses. The first shows ZFW and FOB from your OFP. Press again within 30 seconds to load them. Do the REQUEST first, then the LOAD.

LOADSHEET answers "NOT ALLOWED".

It only loads fuel and payload on the ground, with the engines off and the parking brake set.

After 2,500 ft on a FLEX take-off the FMA still shows "MAN FLX +00".

The label is wrong but the thrust is right. It is a known display issue in this version.

Known limits

What this version does not do

Are the FMGC performance figures those of the −200?

No. In this version the FMGC performance tables are still the A330-300 ones, so predictions can differ from your SimBrief plan.

Are the cockpit systems new?

No. They are the systems of the default A330, with the changes listed on the features page.

Climb fuel burn is lower than my SimBrief plan.

Yes, noticeably. This is inherited from the base aircraft's engine model and is unchanged in this version.

I do not see the inlet mist.

It needs humid air (it starts above 60 % humidity and is full at about 90 %), N1 above 70 % and less than 1,500 ft above the ground. It is subtle in daylight.

The route disappears under the weather radar on the ND.

The outer ring of the ND brightness knob dims the radar image. Turn it down and the route shows on top.

The autothrust hunts in gusts and managed descent is uneven.

Both are inherited from the base aircraft's autoflight and are unchanged in this version. In the descent, flying a selected speed is a good workaround.

Support

Help, bugs and repaints

Where do I report a bug or ask for help?

Open a report on our support tracker or ask on Discord.

Before you report, test with third-party plugins disabled and check whether it also happens on the default A330-300.

Tell us your X-Plane version, operating system and engine, and attach version.txt and the Log.txt from the same session. Log.txt shows folder paths from your computer, so remove anything you do not want to share. The channels are public.

Can I publish my own livery?

Yes, repaints are welcome. Put RR, GE or PW in the livery folder name so the right engine loads. The paint kit is a separate download.
